Account & Login
How do I create an account?
Go to sparkystudy.com, click Sign Up, enter your name, email, password (8+ characters), pick your apprenticeship period, accept the disclaimers, and complete the captcha. We'll send a verification email โ click the link inside to confirm your address.
I forgot my password โ what do I do?
On the login page, click Forgot password? and enter your account email. We'll send a reset link that's valid for 30 minutes. Open the link, choose a new password, and you're back in.
If you don't receive the email within a few minutes, check your spam folder. Still nothing? Email info@sparkystudy.com from the address on your account and we'll help you recover access.
I never got the verification email.
- Check your spam / junk folder. The sender is
info@sparkystudy.com. - Sign in and look for the yellow banner at the top of the app โ click Resend.
- Wait 2-3 minutes โ some providers (especially Outlook and corporate inboxes) delay external mail.
- Still no email after 10 minutes? Reply to this thread with your account email and we'll resend manually.
How do I delete my account and data?
Sign in, go to Settings, scroll to the Danger Zone section, type DELETE MY ACCOUNT in the confirmation box, and click the red Delete My Account & All Data button.
This permanently removes your account, study progress, flashcards, notes, and uploaded modules. It cannot be undone. If you have an active subscription, cancel it first (see "How do I cancel?" below) or your card will continue to be charged.
Can I download a copy of my data?
Yes โ under PIPEDA you have the right to access your personal data. Sign in, go to Settings, and click Export Progress Data. You'll get a JSON file with your account info, study progress, flashcards, exam history, notes, and uploaded modules.
Subscription & Billing
What does SparkStudy Elite cost?
Elite is $79.99 CAD/year or $39.99 CAD/month. The yearly plan saves ~83% vs. monthly. Both unlock the same features. There is also a free plan with limited features โ no subscription required to try the diagnostic, browse the study guide, or use the simulators.

How do I cancel my subscription?
Sign in, go to Settings โ Subscription, and click Manage Subscription. You'll be sent to Stripe's secure billing portal, where you can cancel with one click.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period โ you keep Elite access until that date, but you won't be charged again. Your account stays active afterwards on the free plan; your data is not deleted.
Can I get a refund?
SparkStudy subscriptions are generally non-refundable. The exception is if you're enrolled in an accredited electrical trade program and need to withdraw โ in that case you may be eligible for a refund within 30 days of purchase with documentation.

Can I switch between monthly and yearly?
Yes. In Settings โ Subscription โ Manage Subscription, Stripe lets you switch plans. If you switch from monthly to yearly mid-cycle, Stripe will prorate the credit. If you switch from yearly to monthly, the change applies at your next renewal.
I think I was charged twice.
SparkStudy has duplicate-charge protection โ if a Stripe customer exists for your email, the checkout flow redirects to the billing portal instead of creating a second subscription. If you still see two charges:
- Check your Stripe receipts โ one may be a $0 authorization hold that drops off in a few days.
- Email info@sparkystudy.com with both transaction IDs and we'll investigate within one business day.
How do I redeem a promo code?
Enter your code on the signup or diagnostic plan-selection page in the "Promo code" field and click Apply. The discount or credit will be reflected before you complete checkout. Some codes are single-use per account.
Using SparkStudy
What's the diagnostic assessment?
A short, untimed quiz the first time you log in. It identifies which CEC sections and trade-theory topics you already know well and which need more work. SparkStudy then builds a personalized study plan that prioritizes your weakest areas.
You can retake the diagnostic anytime from Settings โ Retake Diagnostic โ your history is preserved.
Can I upload my own course material?
Yes (Elite only). Click the ๐ button on the Notes or Modules page and upload a PDF, photo of notes, or screenshot. SparkStudy extracts the text, generates a study guide, and creates practice questions tied to that content.
You retain full ownership of anything you upload. You may only upload material you have the right to use (your own notes, materials provided by your instructor, etc.) โ see Terms ยง13.
Is the AI-generated content always correct?
No. AI-generated questions, explanations, and lectures can contain errors โ outdated information, miscited CEC rules, math mistakes, or fabricated content. We display an "โจ AI-generated" badge on every AI surface as a reminder.
Always verify against the official Canadian Electrical Code, your course materials, and your instructor. If you spot a wrong answer, click the ๐ฉ Flag button so we can review it.
Does SparkStudy work offline / on mobile?
SparkStudy is a Progressive Web App (PWA) โ works in any modern browser on phone, tablet, or laptop. On iOS / Android, use the browser's "Add to Home Screen" option to install it like a native app.
Offline support is partial: cached lessons, notes, and flashcards work without internet. AI-generated features (chat, lecture, story, comic) require a connection.
What's the streak / cashback system?
Studying on consecutive days earns a streak. Hitting a 3-day streak multiplies your earned points 1.5ร; a 7-day streak gives 2ร. Points convert into a cashback discount on your Elite renewal โ see the Achievements page for your current balance.
Cashback rewards are subject to the Terms of Service and may be capped per renewal cycle.
Technical Issues
The app is loading slowly or crashing.
- Hard-refresh:
Ctrl+Shift+R(Windows) orCmd+Shift+R(Mac). - Check your internet connection โ AI features need a stable connection.
- Try a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge).
- If you have a large notes / module collection, go to Settings โ Storage Cleanup to free up space.

"Storage quota exceeded" โ what do I do?
Your device's browser storage is full. SparkStudy uses local storage to keep your data available offline; uploaded PDFs and OCR text can take up several MB each.
Fix: go to Settings โ Storage Cleanup. You'll see a list of what's taking space, ranked by size. Delete what you no longer need โ uploaded modules, old exam attempts, cached audio segments โ and the error goes away.
Audio (Read Aloud / AI Teacher) won't play on my iPhone.
iOS Safari blocks audio playback unless it's triggered by a user tap. The first audio button you tap on a fresh page may take an extra second to "unlock" audio. Try tapping the play button once, waiting a beat, then tapping it again if needed.
If audio still doesn't play, make sure your phone is not on silent / mute, and that Safari has permission to autoplay audio (Settings โ Safari โ Auto-Play โ Allow All Auto-Play).
